Bright Shadow’s Zest programme offers a range of creative activities and inspiring resources for people living with dementia and their families and their loved ones.
In May 2022 Becky led a block of creative workshops over 4 weeks with the groups who meet weekly in Canterbury, Whitstable, Dover and Hythe.
The activities were inspired by a conversation with Audrey, a participant at the Whitstable group, who shared stories of working at Peek Freans biscuit factory in Bermondsey as a young mother. She shared memories of picking up 14 biscuits at a time to pack them and fainting in the melted chocolate section of the production line. This led Becky to design a series of workshops on the theme of Assembly.
The sessions involved playing biscuit bingo, tasting chocolate, sharing childhood memories of sweet treats, making collages, creating fabric pennants, drawing to music, mark making as a production line, crafting stamps and greetings cards.
