Sculpture | The Weight of Waiting

Role

About
This series of textile sculptures are created from hand-dyed, sewn and stuffed flesh coloured objects. The shapes indicate ambiguous anatomical growths.

The relationship of soft fabrics with rusting pipes explore emotions of being overwhelmed and catastrophising while waiting for biopsy results.

Shown alongside the sculptures are three A0 black and white photographs and sets of women’s underwear embroidered with uterus imagery.

This work was first exhibited as part of The CASS degree show in 2012 where it was highly commended. It went on to be shortlisted for REcreative’s KUSAMA OBSESSION opportunity and became REcreative’s January 2015 Critics Pick.
